Kexin enjoys digital product collaborations that encompasses design, research, and strategy. She is currently leading the product design and user research of MyPHD and Stanford Data Ocean. On days when she is not working, things that bring her energy are catching up with friends, discovering good food in the city, and bringing new additions of plants and flowers to her living space.

Arash Alavi

Arash Alavi

Software Engineering Director

Dr. Arash Alavi is the Director of Software Engineering at Stanford Deep Data Research Center, Stanford University. Arash received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Riverside in September 2019. Currently, Arash is working on building novel secure, scalable, and intelligent platforms for real-time precision medicine.

Abtin Tondar

Bioinformatics Researcher

Abtin began his research career as a bench scientist working on translational cell therapy and tissue engineering regenerative medicine projects. He has worked in academia and several pharmaceutical companies, such as the Board of Governors Regenerative Medicine Institute, Amgen, ATUM, Merck, and Bristol-Myers Squibb. At Mekonos, Abtin established and led the biology department. Abtin holds a master’s degree in biotechnology from Georgetown University where he received a scholarship from the school of medicine. Throughout his career, Abtin became passionate about the applications of bioinformatics in biology and medicine. Therefore, Abtin started his bioinformatics Ph.D. in 2020 as a student in an interuniversity program, including the University of Barcelona, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, and six other universities in Spain. He is now a Ph.D. candidate in bioinformatics.

Peter Knowles

UX Researcher

Peter is an undergraduate student at Stanford University, studying Psychology. He works with engineers and designers to improve the user experience on the MyPHD app, and troubleshoot the problems that arise for study participants in the COVID-19 Wearables Study. In his free time, he loves to play hockey and surf!

Mahmoud Naghibzadeh

Professor of Computer Engineering at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad

Professor Mahmoud Naghibzadeh received his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering (Computer) and Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern California, USA. During his postdoctoral research at the same university, he was responsible for developing and maintaining oil exploration software for a respected professor, while teaching undergraduate students every semester.

Due to his ethical commitment, he returned to his home country, Iran, to teach at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. Since then, he always kept connections with the industry, and stayed active in practical activities and projects. Doing research and trying to solve complex computational problems in the simplest possible way is his constant intellectual occupation.

His current research fields are bioinformatics, cloud computing, and real-time systems. He is proud that many of his former students are productive, reliable, responsible, and successful people in industry and academia. He has published numerous scientific articles, and several successful computer books in Persian.

Lettie McGuire

Web Developer

Lettie McGuire enjoys collaborating with our team to provide neuroscience informed development and design that supports innovative healthcare research and precision medicine. Lettie received her Masters in Neuroscience and Learning from Harvard Graduate School of Education and loves to paint watercolors from nature.

Xin Zhou

Bioinformatics Researcher

Xin Zhou was trained as a metagenomic scientist, who studies the interaction between the host and microbiome and how this affects human health. His Ph.D. and Postdoc training happen to be on the microbiome side with Dr. George Weinstock and the host side with Dr. Michael Snyder. They have also been known as the two major contributor to the Human Microbiome Project. Xin is eager to learn about the microorganisms that live in and around us, why they are important to us, and how we can manipulate them to improve human health.

Vandhana Krishnan

Senior Bioinformatics Scientist/Cloud Engineer

Vandhana is a computational researcher with diverse bioinformatics experience in the plant sciences, microbiome, and precision medicine. She builds solutions employing cutting-edge technologies that aid in discoveries for various omics research projects.

Tao Wang

Optimization Researcher

Tao Wang (王韬) is a researcher with multi-disciplinary interests in high performance computing (HPC), large-scale storage, and statistical machine learning-based analysis for precision medicine and human genomics. Currently, he works closely with biologists in the Mike Snyder Lab and is in charge of data submissions to ENCODE (Encyclopedia of DNA Elements). He is a computer science alumnus of College of William and Mary and North Carolina State University, and a former intern at Argonne National Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and MediaTek.

Swagata Ashwani

Swagata is a Data Scientist specializing in Natural Language Processing (NLP). She is passionate about using data-driven approaches to derive insights and solutions. She is also:

Ryan Park

Biomedical Researcher

Ryan is a fourth-year undergraduate studying biomedical computation and CS. He TAs for “Gene 222: Cloud Computing for Biology and Healthcare” and is passionate about his research, which applies computational tools to microbiome and other multiomic data. In the future, Ryan aspires to become a physician scientist.

Rajat Bhasin

Senior Mobile Engineer

Over 12 years of software engineering experience, Rajat had worked as a Senior iOS developer, technology lead, and software architect. He started his career in app development after completing a Master’s degree in Computer Applications. Rajat has extensive experience in building platforms with xCode, Objective C and/or Swift. He created applications from scratch, based on wireframes, as well as designing the complete app architecture. Rajat joined the team in 2020, and has integrated many wearable devices with the app, and developed numerous features.

Qiwen Wang

Senior Android Engineer

Qiwen received her Master’s degree in Computer Science from Stanford University. She has been on the team since she was a graduate in 2018. She has laid the foundation for wearable data collection and the security foundation for the MyPHD app. Currently, Qiwen serves as a tech lead on the Android platform to onboard new studies and improve app performance.

Nikki Mousavi

Biomedical Researcher

Nikki is a fourth-year undergraduate at UC Berkeley studying disciplines in psychology. She is passionate about working with disadvantaged communities in need of healthcare and has various clinical experiences/training. In the future she hopes to become a physician assistant.

Mia is a rising 3rd year in the Vagelos Life Sciences and Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania. She has experience founding and working with numerous life sciences startups and is interested in oncology, rare disease, and all things precision medicine.

Mohan Babu

Senior Biomedical Data Scientist

Mohan is a postdoctoral fellow with extensive experience in biomedical data science. At Snyder lab he is leveraging longitudinal host-microbial omics profiling and wearables-based monitoring to understand Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), its heterogeneity, and predictors of the diverse symptoms that ASD individuals experience.

Hariharan is a mobile App developer with experience in both Android and iOS development. He is originally from India, and is now living in South Carolina with his wife and two kids.

David Jose Florez Rodriguez

David came from Colombia with his family in grade school. Fortunate to have found many good teachers and mentors, he’s now halfway through a Master’s degree in EE. He works to impact the fields of healthcare and energy systems with optimization, and cares deeply about fighting inequality with education.

Camille is an experienced Product Designer and Product Manager, who has worked for multiple medical technology startups across various sectors. She has a Master’s in Engineering Design from Stanford University. During her time there, she worked closely with the lab, as well as the Byers Center for Biodesign. Now, she is focused on women’s health and works for an AI fertility tech startup called Alife Health.

Antony Ross

Senior Data Scientist

I spent the first part of my career conducting research in muscle physiology to better understand, and improve athletic performance. I’m excited to have the opportunity to use that background along with my experience in machine learning and AI to extract insights from the interesting data sets emanating from the various sciences and technologies related to precision medicine. Further, machine learning, AI, and cloud computing are rapidly transforming healthcare, and I have a great passion for teaching these imperative technologies.

Amir Bahmani

Director and Lecturer

Dr. Amir Bahmani is the Director at Stanford Deep Data Research Center, and a lecturer at Stanford University. He has been working on distributed and parallel computing applications since 2008. Currently, Amir is an active researcher in the VA Million Veteran Program (MVP), Human Tumor Atlas Network (HTAN), the Human BioMolecular Atlas Program (HuBMAP), Stanford Metabolic Health Center (MHC) and Integrated Personal Omics Profiling (iPOP).

Amit Dixit
